Syndicate Bank is one of the oldest banks in India. Earlier it was known as Canara Industrial and Banking Syndicate Limited. It has it’s headquarter in the university town of Manipal, India.

IDBI Bank (Industrial Development Bank of India) was established on 01st July 1964 under an Act of Parliament as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of India.

At present Government of India held 73.98% shares in IDBI Bank and Life Insurance Corporation of India held approx. 14.37% of the shares.

 

6. Union Bank of India (UBI)

Total Assets: INR 4,047 billion.

UBI was established on 11th November 1919 and has it’s headquarter in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Government of India owns 63.44% of its share capital.

UBI has 4301 branches of which four of them are overseas in Hong Kong, Dubai International Financial Centre, Antwerp, and Sydney (Australia).

 

5. Canara Bank

Total Assets: INR 5,530 billion.

Canara Bank was established at Mangalore in 1906 by Ammembal Subba Rao Pai. It has it’s headquarter in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

3. Punjab National Bank (PNB)

PNB is an Indian multinational banking and financial services company. This bank was established on 19th May 1894.

It has a banking subsidiary in the UK (PNB International Bank) with seven branches in the UK as well as branches in Hong Kong, Kowloon, Dubai, and Kabul.

Total Assets: INR 6,949 billion.

Candidates who are planning to appear in the UGC NET 2020 Exam must be waiting for the application process to start.

The UGC NET Application Form process started from 16th March 2020. Earlier the last date to apply for the exam was 15th June 2020 but now it has been extended till 30th June 2020.

Candidates who want to fill their application form may face some problems during the process.

Below I have listed the documents that need to be kept ready before filling in the online application form of UGC NET Exam:

  • Copy of Board/ University Certificate for Candidate’s Name, Mother’s Name, Father’s Name and Date of Birth
  • Type of Identification – Bank A/c passbook with photograph/ Passport Number/ Ration Card/Aadhaar Card Number/Voter ID Card Number/ Other Govt ID
  • Your Mailing Address as well as Permanent Address with Pin Code (Refer Annexure- II for State Code)
  • Qualifying Degree Certificate or last semester marks sheet
  • Category Certificate, if applicable
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Certificate, if applicable
  • Person with Disability (PwD) Certificate, if applicable
  • E-mail address and Mobile Number of candidate
  • Scanned images in JPG/JPEG format only:
  • Candidate’s Photograph must be between 10 kb to 200 kb.
  • Candidate’s Signature (in running hand) must be between 04 kb to 30 kb.

How to Fill UGC NET Application Form

Below is the detailed procedure to fill in the online UGC NET Application Form for June 2020 Exam:

Step-1: Go to the official website of NTA UGC NET.

Step-2: Click on “Fill Online Application Form” button. Now click on “New Registration” and then click on “Click Here to Proceed” button.

Step 3: Now enter your basic details and click on “Submit” button.

Step-4: Complete Online Application Form and note down the system generated Application No.

Step-5: Upload scanned images of Candidate’s Photograph and Candidate’s Signature in JPG/JPEG format.

Step-6: Make payment of fee through SBI /Syndicate/HDFC /ICICI Payment Gateway (Debit/Credit Card or Net Banking/Paytm) and keep proof of fee paid.

After successfully submitting the UGC NET Application Form, you must take the printout for future reference.

There are many entrance exams through which candidates can get admitted for Master’s degree.

Some of the exams are: GS exam (for IISERs, NCBS, CCMB, NBRC, and many other institutions), BCIL-BITP (for industrial training), DBT-JRF, ICMR, CSIR, IIT JAM, GATE etc. But the best of them are IIT JAM (Joint Admission test for M.Sc.) and GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering).

Difference between IIT JAM and GATE

Before learning about best entrance exam- IIT JAM or GATE, you must know about these exams.

About IIT JAM (Joint Admission test for M.Sc.)

IIT JAM Exam is an online entrance test conducted every year in the month of February.

IIT JAM Exam is conducted for the candidates who want to get admitted in IITs and IISc to pursue M.Sc (Four Semesters), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D, M.Sc.-M.Tech., M.Sc.-Ph.D Dual Degree & other courses.

Candidates cannot appear for more than two test papers out of the given seven papers:

  • Physics (PH)
  • Chemistry (CY)
  • Mathematics (MA)
  • Biological Science (BL)
  • Biotechnology (BT)
  • Geology (GG)
  • Mathematical Statistics (MS)

Who is eligible for IIT JAM Exam?

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree from any branch from any recognized university.
  • Both Indian as well as Foreign candidates are eligible.
  • There is no age limit for IIT-JAM exam.
  • Candidates appearing for their final year exams are also eligible.
  • Candidates must have minimum of 55% marks if they are from General & OBC categories and 50% marks for SC, ST categories, in their Bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates also need to submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admissions from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed form.
  • Candidates also may also have to undergo a physical fitness test by a medical board constituted by the Admitting Institute. If any candidate found physically unfit to pursue his/her chosen course of study, his/her admission shall be cancelled.

IIT JAM Exam Pattern

  • Exam will be organized through online mode.
  • Exam will be in English language only.
  • There are total of 60 questions of 100 marks.
  • Duration will be of 3 hours.
  • The exam is divided into three sections:

Section A- 30 MCQs of 50 marks: Out of a total of 30 questions, 10 questions are of one mark each and 20 questions are of two marks each. There is negative marking of 1/3 mark for each question answered incorrectly out of the one mark question and 2/3 marks are deducted for each incorrect question which is of two marks each. There is no negative marking for any question left unanswered.

Section B– 10 MSQs of 20 marks: Each correct answer in this section is awarded two marks. There is no negative marking in this section.

Section C- 20 NAT of 30 marks:  Out of the total 20 questions, first 10 questions are of one mark each and other 10 questions are of two marks each. There is no negative marking in this section as well.

About GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an all India entrance exam conducted every year to get admitted in IITs and IISc for candidates who want to pursue pursue post-graduate programs (M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D.).

Who is eligible for GATE Exam?

Below is the eligibility criteria to appear in the GATE exam:

  • Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are appearing for final year exams can also apply.
  • Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (Post-B.Sc./Post-Diploma) and those who are appearing for final year exams can also apply.
  • Candidates must have Master’s degree in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are appearing for final year exams can also apply.
  • Candidates who are in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology can also apply.
  • Candidates who are in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology can also apply.
  • Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institute of Engineers (India); AMICE by Institute of Civil Engineers (India)) as equivalent to B.E. /B. Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

GATE Exam Pattern

  • There will be total 65 questions of 100 marks.
  • Duration for GATE exam will be 3 hours.
  • The question paper will consist both multiple choice questions (MCQ) and numerical answer type questions.
  • In the papers with the codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE, the Engineering Mathematics section carries around 15% of the total marks, the General Aptitude section carries 15% of the total marks and the remaining 70% of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper.
  • In the papers with the codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL, the General Aptitude section carries 15% of the total marks and the remaining 85% of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper.

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an all India entrance exam which allows candidates to apply for IITs, NITs, IISc, and a few other applied sciences institutes/universities.

GATE exam can only be given by the candidates with applied science degrees like B.E and B.Tech, to pursue M.Tech and M.Sc by research, integrated PhD, direct PhD programs.
